The ED&D Glow Wire Tester type GWT200 is designed to carry out fire hazard testing on electro-technical products in accordance with the provisions of International standards. Designed and built in accordance with IEC 60695 – – the glow wire reference standard. Some examples of standards that have adopted these requirements are: IEC 60335, IEC 884/94, IEC 1058, IEC 60598, IEC 61058, and all other IEC, UL, CSA, CE and VDE equivalents…such as UL 746A, etc. A loop of resistance wire is electrically heated to a specified temperature and the specimen being tested is brought into contact with this heated wire with a defined horizontal loading. Observations and measurements are made to evaluate the fire hazard presented by the specimen during exposure to elevated temperatures.
